An old fashioned Christmas card
I was looking forward to making some cards this weekend, and I was fortunate to have the time, and the inspiration to get some cards done. I am trying to come up with some cards for our Christmas Stamp-A-Stack, and I really want to use my new stamp set Winter Memories. I love the sled, and the skates, and the snowmen, because they conjure up some wonderful memories for me, too. We lived in several houses when I was a little girl, and I have such fond memories of skating on Como Lake when we lived near the park, and then sledding on the long slopes in Indian Mounds Park, and down the steep side streets, where you could sled down the hill for about 3 blocks. You would have friends watch the intersections to tell you if cars were coming. So much fun, and so dangerous. I remember learning to play hockey at Bluff Playground and Van Buren School. All of these wonderful memories come back to me as I stamped today.
I loved leaving the image of the sled stamped just in brown tones. Gave it that feeling of a sepia tone photo. The two bright banners add just the right amount of excitement to the card, giving it that special touch, and warm feeling.
I entered the card in a couple challenges today. The Pink Elephant Monday Challenge asked us to use BANNERS. Then the Merry Monday #35 challenge gave me the perfect layout, and I flipped it around.
I think this card just might me a contender for the stamp class, but I'll wait to see what you all think. Is it a winner? Be sure you leave a comment to let me know. And, if you want to join the class, there is still time to register, just shoot me an email.
Come back and find out later what cards we choose.
Enjoy your Sunday :D
