Memories, winter watercolored memories
Memories, winter water colored memories, of the way we were....................
old song lyrics from the movie "The Way We Were".
I told you yesterday about my wonderful memories of sledding in the winter, and so I have another card I made yesterday, too. This time I did a little water coloring on the stamped image. I don't do this very often, but I love to color and paint. I'd love to offer this as one of our Christmas Card class selections, but I am uncertain about having other people paint. It's really a love it or hate it kind of thing, and it can lead to some real disasters if you don't do it nice. I don't want anybody tossing the cards they make. What do you think? Would you like to do a little water coloring on the cards you make, or would you prefer something more straight stamping and simple?
Sometimes, it's even a challenge for me to just get a card just right. This was one of those cards. I liked the straight up, plain layout from Sketch Frenzy Friday, and that's where it all started. I loved the card with just the painted image with the Cherry Cobbler stripes behind it. It looked clean and simple. But, I decided to take the advice from SUO Challenge #55 to use some texture, and got out one of my favorite embossing folders, and give the Crumb Cake background that TEXTURE. That looked nice, too. But, I felt it needed a salutation on the front, so I fooled around with several designs, but decided to keep it pretty simple. Then, I decided that it needed the bow. I think it's like Christmas packages, they all need a bow. I just could not stand it not to step it up a little. Do you like it? Maybe I could have left off the bow. Some days card making is just such a challenge, and we aren't just talking about contests.
Hope you like my card today. Come back and see if I got any more stamping done on Sunday.
